Deej sat at the computer after the dog left, waiting for Abbi to come back. However, suddenly, someone knocked on the door. He opened it to see his other brother: Peter. "Someone's at the door for you." he said, before walking off to go do his own thing
Deej raised an eyebrow...he didn't usually get visitors, especially this early...sometimes he did, but it was rare...he had friends out there, he just usually had to go to them or meet them somewhere, or something like that, and not even that was often. But nonetheless, he'd go see who this was.
He went to the entryway to see his ever so lovely cousin: Ellie Rickinson. She was the daughter of one of his favorite aunts, and a close friend of his, but probably one of the ones who kicked up the most drama. She immediately went to hug Deej. "Deej! Its been awhile since I've seen you...I came here to see you and Miss R!" she exclaimed, using the abbreviation for his mother's name
Oh this should be fun. he thought to himself

Reza stared at Niko like he was an apple tree that had just said she was queen of the chicken people. "I have no idea what you just said." She muttered. "Except for the electronics part." She smiled. She reached in her back pocket and pulled out asmall device she had no idea about. It had a few small buttons and looked like a TV remote. "Oh, by the way, is this yours?" She smield. "I, heh, found it."

Abbi winced. Reza...
Her klepto friend was funny, and she shared her love for 'stealing' her friend's stuff--after all, Abbi always stole her dad's knife when he wasn't looking, right out of his pocket. Abbi watched carefully for Niko's reaction.

Niko's hand rushed to his right labcoat pocket. Nothing! In the time it takes a light to flash, he snatched the remote out of her hand and gave it a quick slap. "Reza! Do you have any idea what this device is?" he kept his voice down but, had he the opportunity, he would have been yelling "Do you have any idea what kind of trouble I could get into if an Imperial sympathizer THOUGHT he saw me with one of these?"
On the record, Niko's profession was full-time student of electronics and engineering. The tools of that trade were pen, paper and the occasional holo-book. This device was one of the tools of Niko's "other" profession.
It was a slicer tool meant to analyze the electric currents running through certain devices to make it easier to detect security systems and disable them. A slicer with a device like this one could have a field day with, among limitless other things, bank terminals. Not something one would want to be arrested by the Empire with.
He quickly slipped the device into one of his inner coat pockets and did his best to hide the look on his face from a student across the room. It may have just been paranoia, but Niko thought he remembered seeing that student in an Imperial enlisted uniform.

With a sudden shock, Abbi recognized the tool. Niko had shown it to her when he'd got it months ago, back when they finally became friends and began to work on their writing together. It amazed her somebody his age would even think to talk with a kid like her, but when he pulled out that...
Abbi prided herself on getting past the HoloNet blockers on any government channel--hell, she had to learn if she was going to work with Dad most of the summer--but Niko was a master. She'd dared him to hack into her computer once, and he did, then read her new email aloud for her!
Abbi glanced Reza's way, hiding a smile. "You probably shouldn't do that," she whispered. "I'll tell you later."

"Yeah, so anyway..." Niko did his best to refrain from looking around the room and drawing attention "What do you think? Any thoughts on where I should 'suggest' my mom send me for vacation?" When he said the word 'suggest' he made a gesture with his fingers like he was typing on a keyboard.
It was his plan was to hack the spaceline ticket when he got it and go somewhere different than his mother's financial record said. Hell, with the kind of power he wielded, he could hitchhike his way across the galaxy packed inside of a crate standing upside-down on his head if he wanted. All in time, all in time.

Abbi smirked, leaning foreword. "I think," she said, drawing it out, "that you should try for..."
She paused, thinking.
"Well, I would say Kashyyk, but scuttlebutt says something big's going down there, soon." She tapped her head with a finger, grimacing. When she was younger, so her mom said, a Jedi Knight had stayed at their house because her dad had ties to the government. He said she had special powers, but he refused to take her to the Temple. Her powers manifested themselves in strange ways, from flashes into the future to a sort of battle precognition that aided her in a spar... and, somehow, sometimes, to be able to anticipate another person's words or thought. Deej, Houston, Niko, and Reza knew about her extra sense, but they rarely commented on it except when it really began to manifest itself in strange ways.
She could remember once when she'd met Niko online. She knew from the start he was a great guy, but it began to get a little worrisome (to him, anyway) when she began to have entire convos without him, all with his input in. Once she'd told him about her weirdo story he'd accepted it as fact and she saved him typing time. Still, though, it came as a complete surprise when she moved to his school, and Reza came with her.
Fate was weird like that.
She had a general bad feeling about Kashyyk and Wookies right now, but it was mainly centered on the Republic becoming an Empire and the Jedi being outlawed. It was like outlawing the army because they had guns. A lot of people loved the idea, but she was appalled.
During the Clone Wars--she was glad to be able to use the past tense now--she'd had a growing sense of uneasiness, and only a week ago had it climaxed so much that she stayed in bed an entire day, pale and shaky. That was the day Palpatine became a dictator.
And it was also the day her parents began to act... abnormal.
Thinking back on it--thinking back on everything, she could feel the blood draining from her face. Her stomach shifted uneasily, and she took a long sip of her drink with her eyes closed.

Niko knew that look. Abbi was having a long contemplative thought about something, and it likely wasn't vacation plans. Having the off and on ability to read people's emotions was something of a curse for Niko. He never enjoyed seeing people look contemplative, knowing they were troubled inside. But he especially didn't like seeing a sweet, innocent... Well sweet anyway, girl like Abbi have to suffer the consequences of being born to such an ignoble birthright as an Empire-controlled territory.
Now that he thought of it, though, if Abbi hadn't been born here and maybe been sent to Temple when she was young she'd probably be dead or in hiding because of the way the Clone Wars turned out. Imperial inquisitors have had and always will have a particular distaste for people with Force powers.
They sure wouldn't like Abbi, with her mind reading. In fact, she's probably just heard everything I thought I was keeping to myself. He turned to face her and smiled with a wink, to try and get her mind back to the surface of whatever it was it was drowning it. "Got some stuff you want to share with the rest of the class, miss Abbigale?"

Reza blinked a few times. She looked at Abbi. That was the look she got when either someone just said the most stupid thing in the world, or she was having one of those vision thingamabob's. "Abbi? Hello? Any one home?" She waved her hand in Abbi's face.

Abbi blinked, opening her eyes. "Yeah, I'm here," she said. "Sorry, I've had a headache all day." She grinned at Niko's concerned expression. "Don't get spooked," she warned.d
She glanced down at the menu board, forcing herself to stop thinking about the past few days. "I think I'm gonna get the usual. What about you guys?"

Deej looked at his cousin. "What brings you here?" he asked the dark skinned 17 year old curiously
"Okay well...you won't believe this!" she said excitedly, obviously hyper as usual "Where's Miss R?"
"Uh, doing something work-related, as far as I know." Deej replied, confused by Ellie's hyperness and sudden barging in
"Okay, we'll have to get her out here...anyway, you know how I was arrested fur driving after curfew, and my license was revoked, and I have to do community service?" Ellie exclaimed
Deej definitely recalled hearing about that. "Yes...yes I do remember." he replied with a nod
"Well...you know how my mom is like really pushing you to learn how to drive, and is even saying she's going to herself, and Miss R agrees with her? Well...since I can't use it anymore...I know exactly who to give my speeder to for the time being!" she happily said
Deej's eyes widened. "Oh you've got to be kidding." he blurted in half-disgust

"Mm, I brought mine in a pocket so I'm good." Niko told Abbi, reaching into his lower-left inside coat pocket and pulling out a plastic bag filled with meat jerky. Niko was a real meat freak, because no matter how much of it, or any food for that matter, that he consumed he never seemed to gain weight. He reached into the pocket on the opposite side of his coat and pulled out a mini plastic container filled with Maroj Melon.
"Mmm-mm! De-lish. Reza, what'll you be having?"

Ellie grabbed Deej's hand and pulled him outside. I swear, she acts like she's a 12 year old trapped in a 17 year olds body. he thought to himself, she pulled him out into the frontyard, where a speeder sat by the curb
"So...since I can't use this anymore, and I'm sure as hell not going to give it to my mom," she said, the bad blood between them still apparant as ever "I've decided to give it to Miss R! Like a spare...and you know, since you may be driving soon...maybe you can use it!"
"You're giving me this speeder?" Deej said, his jaw dropping and eyes widening "What do you expect me to do with it?! I won't be driving for awhile, and-"
"Oh, hush!" a voice said
Ellie's girlfriend-yes, girlfriend-got out of the speeder, and she approached Deej with a smile. "You're 17, you can use this soon!" she said
Deej stared at the two, still astonished. He wasn't sure if he liked this.

"Anything that used to be alive is fine with me." She nooded, croosing her arms behind her back and smiling. "I'd eat it still alive, too. But that's so hard to get these days." She smiled innocently. "Oh, Abbi, earlier you said something about moving. Are you going to be gone forever? Because if you are going to disappear from our lives forever, I want to say goodbye." She put on her most innocent and happy smile, the same one she used on teachers.

Abbi blinked and shook her head. "Uh, no you don't. But nice try."
She typed in her order on the menu screen--meatball subs rocked. "I don't know how long I'll be gone though--" and it gives me bad feelings that nobody knows "--and I just wanted to have some dinner in case I'm gone until like holiday break." I'll be gone longer than that.
The thoughts surprised her, and worried her, because they had the same tenor as the thoughts she normally had predicting a slight course change. That was unsettling.
A man--the one who'd been looking at the device in Niko's hand--stood up and cleared him plate in the trash bin. She watched him curiously as he strode out of the small cafe and disappeared into the crowd outside.
"Oh, did I mention my mom's sending our pets to my gramma's on Onderon?" she added after a second. "They're heading on the same shuttle I am, but they're gonna head off in a different direction once I hit groundside. I still don't know why, but it gives me the feeling I'll be gone for a long time. Maybe they're doing renovations."
