Abbi frowned. "Yeah, later," she muttered, and disconnected.
She typed a quick 'bye' to her friends and lay down on the carpet of her new bedroom, back flat on the floor. Slowly, she raised bother legs up over her head until her spine was fully curved and her knees touched the carpet behind her head. Flexibility was such a great, awesome thing.
Gumbi. Me is gumby, she thought. She wondered what Sensei would do if he saw her stretch right now. Her back didn't even crack. She resumed her normal position and stretched out, enjoying the tight pull of her muscles as she stretched like a cat. She relaxed and lay there for a moment, then swung herself up to her feet in a short, fluid motion.
She went downstairs, twirling a strand of hair with her finger. It had been braided into multicolored string months ago at her championship band trip, and it was starting to look washed-out and faded. She'd probably need to take it out and redo it soon...
Her pet Hootch, a large timu pet with horns and a slick gray coat, was walking around the kitchen floor in his OCD movements, his hoofs clattering on the limolium. She let him and Peppie out, then settled herself into the couch with her drawing stuff. She'd wait until Niko regained consciousness to head out again.
Until then, it was draw-a-hawt-smexy-dude time.

All at once, Niko's inner-student took control. He finally realized what day of the week it was, the break was over and he had a course in thirty minutes! He jumped into the air and flew across the room to his dresser. He grabbed the white-coated lab outfit he usually wore to school, got his keys and credits and dashed out the door, putting on his shoes at the same time.
Then after the door closed behind him he zoomed back inside, grabbed his watch/phone and zoomed back out the way he came. Even though the school where he was taking courses was down the street a block or so, when it came to education Niko was a 'hurry up and wait' type.
His messy brown hair blew awkwardly in the wind as he rushed through a cross breeze, intent on making it to History of Borelias 1101 on time!

Abbi tried to draw. She really did, but it just wasn't coming. The picture of Thane, the kick-ass assassin in a game coming out, would not flow from her hand on to the paper, even with his picture looking right back at her from her black laptop. Finally she gave up and stuffed her stuff back into her pack.
School for her didn't start for a week, but Niko and everybody else had started. She wondered if he had woken up and gotten to class by now. She couldn't check either way, because if he was in class his ringer would go off if she called. She couldn't get him in trouble.
She tapped her bare foot, toes painted a bright, vivid blue, on the linolium. She stood to let the pets in, and she could hear voices coming form her parent's room upstairs. Biting her lip a little, she got on all fours and slipped up the stairs as quietly as possible.
"...you know there's not another way," Jol was saying quietly. "Your sister will look after her."
Oh. It was about this. She kept perfectly still, knowing that what she was about to hear was important.
"I don't like it," mom was saying in a furious whisper. "What if--"
"Nothing is going to happen," Jol said firmly.
They sat quiet fora long time, and Abbi slipped back downstairs almost as quietly as she'd come up. Bear glanced up at her, wagging his tail. She pet his head and returned to the living room to meditate on what she heard.

Reza swatted at the buzzing alarm clock.
"I don't wanna get up." She growled.
Slowly but surely she tossed herself out of bed. She slapped her alarm off and onto the floor. She wandered over to her computer that she'd accidentally left on all night. She had an new E-mail. She opened and skimmed over it.
"Abbi and Robby... Hmm... I guess I can go." She shrugged and replied.

Hours later, around evening, Abbi's mom dropped her off on campus without and word and drove away. Abbi watched her go, frowning a little, and walked on to the school grounds with her laptop bag slung over her shoulder.
She spotted a familiar figure waiting by the front gates and waved. "Hi, Reza!" she called.

Niko finally got out of class and made his way toward the old University Union. Abbi was going to be there in a little while and in sure tow was to be the unmistakable Reza. He had to make sure to keep his state-of-the-art electronics away from her.
The last time he let her use his datapad, Reza had accidentally activated the self-destruct code he had invented and the datapad had begun to smoke. He had to sieze it from her claws and deactivate it as it got hotter and hotter in his hand. On the upside, though, it made him upgrade to his current folding computer.
He took a seat in the old Union's restaurant and waited for Reza and Abbi to arrive.

"I got some bad news," Abbi muttered, coming up beside her. She quickly explained what was going on. "So I'm out for a few days, okay? I just wanted to see you guys again before I left."
She had bad feelings about going to her aunt's. Really, really bad.
"Come on, there's Niko," Abbi said when Reza didn't reply, pointing. She grabbed her friend's hand and towed her along. She slid into a seat and grinned. "Hey. Learn anything interesting today?"

"Hey, Ab. Reza." Niko said looking up from the video he was watching on his wristwatch. He reached into his pocket and got out a mango-like fruit from a planet in the mid-rim he couldn't pronounce and started to peel it with his pocketknife. "History class was boring today. As usual, I knew most of what he was telling us already."
Thinking for a second he cracked a smile and joked "But on the upside, I think Midi might have a thing going for me." She was his study partner, who had put together an after-class study group made up of him, her and nothing else but girls. Pretty much all of the girls aside from Midi didn't study often enough, so Niko had the pleasure of impressing them with his knowledge.
"I almost got to class late, by the way. You should have seen it, freakin' hilarious."

"That's why you should've gotten up when I called you," she reprimanded, grinning despite herself. "Lemme guess... you're taking a hot, soothing shower and suddenly remember. Then you run out with no underwear!"

"Nope, try running out the door while tripping over my shoes as I try to put them on. Then running back inside because I forgot my phone." Niko said with a quick sigh "THEN, completely forgetting my computer until after I get to class, meaning I have to take notes by brain." He was sure Reza and Abbi were going to have a real laugh about this one. He sliced off a piece of fruit and raised it to his mouth with his knife.
"But anyway, we ought to talk about you two. You're the ones not in school."

"Well, that's not so bad then, considering you already know what he's teaching," Abbi replied, smirking a little. She leaned back a little, putting in her drink order on the computer built into the table. She saw one of the droids detach itself from the line to rush to the kitchen. "I'm trying to draw Thane, but I'm giving up for now. Face studies for now. Can I draw you later?"

"I'm evil, as usual." Reza smirked. "Right now, I'm planning how to slow cook a live badger, don't interrupt my train of thought!"
Reza smiled innocently, like she was the most innocent child in the galaxy. But everyone knew who big of a lie that was.

"Oh, 'scuse me lady." he laughed, putting down his knife and crossing his arms "At least you've graduated to slow-cooking small animals. Hopefully this means you'll leave my valuable Corellian electronics alone." He was never going to let her live that one down.
Out of left field, a protocol droid with a tray came up with his Jawa beer. Even though it was imported, the fermented beverage tasted like a fresh breath of heaven. And even better to Niko was the knowledge that there was a one-drink limit imposed by the school during hours. At least some people still had principle enough to care about the learning environment.
Speaking of learning... "You know girls, I've been thinking. My mom says she wants to get me off-world to experience more of the galaxy for my break." Niko continued, leaning back "She asked me to pick a place which doesn't speak Basic primarily. I'm thinking Ryloth, that place must be a paradise being the home of the Twi'leks and all. What do you think?"
