"Renovations? Like remodeling?" Reza hated talking with Abbi and Nico. They always used big words she didn't understand. "Well, I hope you don't stay whereever you said you were going for too long. I get bored easy. And I don't want to end up spending time with that." She pointed to Nico.

Reza froze. "Teachers? But, Abbi, they smell like old people." She whined. "And they expect me to pay attention and do work. I never do work! They're lucky I even come."

Reza shuddered. Mis Carnes was the most evil, most old smelling, crazy, strict teacher in their school. Everyone hoped she'd spontaniously combust or get blown up or something.

Carnes wasn't her favorite teacher... she'd called the house one day to tell her parents how smart Abbi was, and kept her mom on the phone for hours talking about her cat care center. She'd always wear short skirts and fishnets, too, which was crazy. Then the Behavorial Expectations...
"Hey, Reza, I'm writing another story. It's an exercise. Guess what it is now."

"So, killing?" She smiled. "Gears f War has everything to do with people killing... things. Close enough. Can I read a few pages?"
Abbi had introduced Reza to Gears of War a year ago. She was hooked from the start. It was her favorite thing to do when she stayed at Abbi's house.

"Yeah, sure, I'll send it to you after I get to my aunt's," Abbi promised. You ever feel like somebody's... watching you? She glanced around curiously at the passing faces, wondering where the strange feeling was coming from. But they are watching you, and you just don't know it. You have to find the watchers and figure it out, or those bad dreams of yours are coming to life.
She clamped down hard on the thoughts--which had been more and more frequent lately--and began to dig into her meal. She yawned. "Wow, I'm actually tired."

"What'd you do? Stay up until 5 in the morning?" Reza asked.
That was hypocritical, Reza herself also stayed up late. Usually just talking to friends and listening to E-mail, but her parents always have to get onto her to get off the computer at night.

Niko was usually the silent type when others started to get into deep conversations. He always waited politely to try and get his two bits into any conversation. Socially, however, this usually proved to be more of a burden and a bane than a boon. It made him look quiet and anti-social, which of course he wasn't. Everybody else just never shut up!
In his head he thought of Reza's reluctance to go to school. If he could help it, Niko was always early to his classes and did his best to listen to his lectures, even if they bored him. Of course, when he was her age he treated his studies with the same lack of seriousness. All this made him do was regret not doing his homework and feel like a twit in hindsight.
Fortunately, I was born gifted. he thought, shoving a large piece of melon into his mouth. He swallowed and finally saw a break in the conversation and entered. "Yeah, Ab, you don't look so good." he said with light concern "You're not running yourself a fever, now are you?"

Abbi grinned. "Naw, 'course not. That'd make my day."
And it might have once. Now it was just an excuse to not go to Corellia.
She took a large bite of the meatball sub in front of her, savoring the taste before swallowing. "So how've you guys been?"
