It was a sad day, the day the book was written. The book in which Chewbacca died. I cant remember the name but I think it was in the New Republic series This may be a stupid question but how did you feel when loveable old Chewie kicked the bucket?

I believe it was one of the first New Jedi Order books. And I was rather annoyed at the author who did kill him he was one of the greatest characters, But i don understand it and they ended up killing off some more characters before the end of those books.

Apparently it was because he didnt want the readers to think the good guys would always win and everyone would live hapily ever after...

We needed more 'real life' aspects in Star Wars. If Skywalker/Solo/other guys came out like Knights in shining armor, readers would lose interest. That's why they killed Anakin Solo, Chewie, and Mara in the last three book series. Plus a lot of OTHER people, like Ailyn, maybe Fett, Lt. Leakoff...
And it was Vector Prime, page 280-something.

To be honest, while I was sad at it, it was one of the first real blows to any of the SW characters (except Bria and Han- weird he seems to get the worst) so it did fit in.
