I figured this might be an intriguing subject. What did you think of the One Ring and all the power it held? Of course there are several main characters in the story, but because of the ring's power and significance, I think you could almost say that the ring was sort of a character itself. Well, if you want to look at it that way, heh.
So anyway... what did you think of the Ring? How did you feel about it? >.>

Its funny, the whole story is based on a ring. So yes, the ring would be considered as a character in my view

I actually love how all the magic in LOTR is quite subtle, and not evident at first sight. And well the ring was a prime example.

And Sauron speaks through the ring on several occasions.

I don't think it was Sauron. I myself think, it was the ring itself.

Maybe. Either way the ring is either "living" or has something "living" inside it controlling it. Either way I consider it as a character

Well it was supposed to have a part of his soul inside it.

A thought just occured to me, folks; how come the story is called Lord of the Rings, if it's about the One Ring?

Well that is a good question. If I recall correctly there were alot more rings. Some fiven to men, some to dwarves and some to elves. Then Sauron created his ring, which later became the one ring, or the Lord of the Rings, so to speak. But perhaps I am wrong I havent seen the films or reads the books in along time

Yes there were many rings.
Not sure on the number mind you!
9 given to men - i.e. the nine ringwraiths 5 given to dwarves 3 to the elves 1 to rule them all and bind them.
Thus it was called the lord of the rings, since technically the wielder of the one, could bind and rule over the wielders of the others (if he knew how and knew where t he rings were)
