Chapter One
FRACTURE
Part One
Prelude to War
Outbound Flight was an expeditionary project that sent a mission of six Jedi Masters, twelve Jedi Knights and 50,000 men, women and children beyond the borders of the Galactic Republic into the Unknown Regions where they hoped to pierce the edge of the galaxy and seek out extragalactic life.
Despite bureaucratic complications during funding and construction, Outbound Flight was eventually launched in 27 BBY. It set out from Yaga Minor, and after visiting several worlds on the Outer Rim, Outbound flight headed off into the Unknown Regions. Problems arose when the Jedi leader and project creator Jorus C'baoth took command of the vessel and imposed severe restrictions on its civilian and military population.
The first Dreadnaught, carrying enough men and women to make up a small planet, was dropped on a world quite like our own during the Caveman times. In time, the population grew, and they named their new world Sera. Contact was lost with the original Outbound Flight, and soon they were just a nameless planet in the Jedi Archives. Even with recovered records from the Outbound Flight, nothing is mentioned about the colony of Sera.
Five-thousand years after the Battle of Yavin, a Jedi Exploration group is sent to map out this new region in the Unknown Regions. They discover Sera and report back on their findings. Sera was kept quiet, but a few Jedi came to try and help out the population. This Jedi, a scientist named Quae Klux, was very intrigued by a limitless, low-viscosity fluid the planet created. It was called Imulsion, and then it was only a scientific wonder. Jedi Klux discovered a way to transform the liquid into a cheap fuel source using the Lightmass Process for the energy-hungry world. Following strange visions through the Force, Quae Klux abandoned his project for the fear of war between nations, and left. His blueprints were stolen by corrupt politicians, and put to use.
Suddenly, the world was bustling. Those nations more fortunate than others to have Imulsion right under their feet were now the envy of those who had barely any. Like the Jedi scientist's vision, war broke out over Imulsion. For seventy-six years the human inhabitants of Sera have fought, specifically telling the Jedi not to interfere.
Contact was lost.
But now, after seventy-six years, a call from Sera reaches the inner chambers of the Jedi Council...

This is a new fic I will start working on at the end of the week. It is Part 1 out of 3, and will contain footnotes, first-person POV, rivals, political squabbles, and more.
* Part 1| Prelude to War: Jedi Padawan Nell Lamboden struggles to find a way to end the Pendulum Wars peacefully. Matters aren't helped by the fact that she has to work with Chad Kern, a Gear whom she has taken a dislike to.
* Part 2| Darkest before Dawn: The end of the Pendulum Wars and the start of the fight between the human survivors and the Locust Horde.
* Part 3| Fear of Shadows: They have found a way to destroy their lizard pests... but will it work?
This is an example of how the chapters will be written. This is NOT part of the story. Chapters will be posted in following replies.

Nell, Sera (Fueling Station)
Okay, it's a bit... Strange. The old crazy man waving a gun at us isn't really doing much for my nerves. I can tell Chad is a bit disturbed, too. (1) I brush my hand across the hilt of my lightsaber, a casual move that catches the eyes of the old man. I give him a charming smile, and reach out to the Force to give Chad a gentle nudge on the shoulder. It's times like these we can actually work together. (2)
Chad starts talking, but I'm not listening that much. I'm more concerned with the old geezer than anything else. Just a simple look at him through the Force is enough to confirm that yes, the man is crazy. (3)
----
(1): About time, too. He acts like he's so high-and-mighty, but I know he's not. I don't think he likes the idea of this shriveled-up prune holding us at gunpoint. But I think the funniest thing is that he fell for the trap, too.
(2): We're completely different. Only of the battlefield can we actually somewhat listen to each other without trying to knock the other's block off. Okay, I know I'm a Jedi, but this man in infuriating! Hoffman had to put us on separate teams just so we didn't fight over who gets to carry the E-Web!
(3): More than crazy, really... When you see him through the Force, it's really surprising. You can feel all of this bottled up hate and fear and hunger, and it just cuts you right to the core. He actually thinks he's dreaming. Okay......
