It was probably looking for food. In my at least two hundred hours of Oblivion experience have never had my horse walk off a cliff. Your's must have hated it's life and committed suicide.

itgot tired of you riding it all the time so it said "ill teach how to ride me" and away he/she went, tumbling down the Oblivion hole ^_^

What do you mean "if there is a next time"? Did you un-install it? Did your 360 hard drive kick the bucket after you played Shivering Isla with a 100 hour character? Or did you go back to Morrowind?
