Ghost Recon
Well, Ghost Recon is quite a franchise these days. Mr. Clancy has done a superb job on it...
The first games were brilliant for their time and still are, I loved the way you could switch between the members of your squad and how your squad had very deep customisation. Its refreshing to go back to it and find a game that isn't "oh no, one person of your team of X people is dead, mission failed".
The latter expansions of the first weren't anything exceptional compared to the originals until Advanced Warfighter came along. It brought with it awesome gameplay and unique features, namely, the Advanced Warfighter system that Cpt. Mitchell sports allowing him to control his Ghosts in a cool and high tech way.
Next came Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2 (GRAW2) and it is still the best shooter I've played on console and is second only to Half-Life on PC. The way it integrates teamwork and solo play together is brilliant, you can go alone and have just as much fun as if you get your team to do the bulk of the work which leaves the game open for two completely different play throughs. Not to mention the way that your style affects the way you play.
Then there's was the use of SixAxis in GRAW2; you could control almost anything with it: stance, diving, rolling, sliding, scoped aiming... And the icing on the SixAxis cake? You got to choose which aspects of it you wanted to be controlled by SixAxis. Find it too hard sniping with SixAxis? Turn it off and use the analogs.
Brilliance.
Well, that's quite a mouthful I've put out there.
Now its your turn:
What's your favourite Ghost Recon game?
What do you think of the series?
What features of which games do you love?
