Spartan; I much prefer human (or at least somewhat in the case of the Spartan) protagonists in games as they let me relate to them more and be immersed further.
I also prefer the human weaponry and tactics a lot more than those of the Covenant.

Meh. The human handgun beats it any day (the original Halo's one, the Halo 2 one is crap and I don't know about Halo 3...).
