In the Forgotten Realms, things are not pleasant. A fold in the very planes has disrupted most magic on the surface, making the once all-powerful wizards, mages, and clerics nothing more than full-grown men and women talking gibberish to a world that cannot be seen. To their dismay, they can no longer call upon the great innate magical ability that once defined them… and if they can, it is merely a fraction of their true power. Only three races remain impervious to this blight: the rare, planet-touched species called Benders, Elves… and Dwarves.
Some say that the elves and dwarves made a pact long ago to set this blight upon the Humans and Halflings, and that the benders were just impervious due to their natural heritage. [/b](1)
Whatever the reason, former wizards seek to find the problem and destroy it at it’s source.
Most with good intentions.
Some, a select few, willing to exploit it to take down their rivals and maybe, somehow, speak with their god… Even few, namely two, aspire to become gods themselves…
The sounds of metal on metal adorn Mithral Hall, home of the dwarves. There, their leader, Fifteenth King of Mithral Hall, gathers his defense. Cut off from contact from their brethren in Icewind Dale makes them fear that the native barbarians have forever silenced them for good. What they don’t know is that the barbarians, under the rule of –insert name here – have united with the people of the rogue city of Ten-Towns and the dwarves. Demons fill the sky, conjured by the rip in the Material Plane, and it will take all of their strength to hold the endless waves back.
The elves, though not hindered at all by the mysterious magic-stealer, are in a bad shape. The children are falling ill, and the continued threat of a larger-than-life djinn named Bartimaeus keeps them all on the edge.
In the secluded valleys of the Bei Fong mountain range, the benders, along with their fiery dragon steeds, feel the tear in nature perhaps more profoundly than any other. Their dragons, their only accepting friends, are dying, fading out of existence. The Princess of Bei Fong’s Tower has left on a mission to find the source, along with her companion,-- insert name here – and pet, shadowed by lingering doubts and suspicion, for surely nobody would welcome a bender into their midst. Comforted only by her companion and panthar comrade Atul, Zaewyven will face the toughest challenge of her long life.[/color][/b]
(1) : The benders are an OC race I made up for the Forgotten Realms RP. They’re actually combined earth, air, water, and fire benders from TV’s Avatar: The Last Airbender.
They have the ability to manipulate their native element. These Bending arts combine a certain style of martial arts and elemental mysticism. The Bending types are Waterbending, Earthbending, Firebending, and Airbending. Benders may look slightly different from normal folk, tending to have piercing eyes and raven-black hair. They can see in infrared vision albit slightly, and are greatly gifted in the magical arts, though it is unheard of a bender mage. Their bending abilities come from a distinct relationship with the world around them, blessed by their god Toph Bei Fong.
Toph Bei Fong died as the first bender in history, only a thirty-year-old woman at the time of her death. She was blessed with immortality at her cross into the spirit world, and she chose to go back and watch over the future benders. The rulers of the Bei Fong mountain range are direct descendants from her, which means they control every element, and not one specific one. Also, her descendants are blind. Her descendants also carry small figurines with them, linked to an entity on the Astral Plane. Zaewvven’s own black panthar is from the Astal Plane, with a distinct relationship with her master.
Also, benders have long lives. The longest-living bender was nine-hundred years old.
Species available:

Basically who I need are a lot of willing people who look foreword to a lot of RPing. A brief rudimentary knowledge of the Forgotten Realms is required, but I can fill in what you may not know. I’ll need a representative of each race, too, each with a unique bio. If you want the template, just look at Zaewyven’s bio below.

* = Most important characters in the RP that we cannot bot.
Name: Zaewyven Neifleakin
Nickname: Zae
Age: 23
Affiliation: Bender, all elements
Class: Ranger
Special Abilities: Infrared vision, strong affinity with two scimitars and bow. Is considered one of the most highly revered Weapon Masters in Bei Fong Tower. Since benders live longer than humans, her real age would be fifty-seven in human times. Still very young.
Appearance and Personality: Zae stands at about 5 ft 6 in and weighs about 130 lb. Her eyes are lavender both in the infrared and optical light spectrum. Because of this, she stands out from other benders, including others in the Royal Line, whose eyes are blue when using infravision (viewing in the infrared spectrum). She possesses a controlled anger, a legacy of the time she spent living in the wilds of the Underdark. While she has mastered that side of her psyche—she refers to it as the "Hunter"—she can still call upon it when she is hard-pressed. The "Hunter" is a purely instinctual being, which propels her to an almost invincible fighting state while stripping her of her compassion. When not possessed by the "Hunter," Zae is a peacemaker who is always willing to avoid a fight if she can, except with evil races such as orcs, giants, yetis, and goblins. Even then she looks for exceptions to the stereotypical prejudice of those races. She is also confident to the point that several of her friends are convinced that someday the elven bender will leap into an inescapable situation. She harbors a deep love for the surface world and cherishes her place in it.
Bio: Zae lived most of her child life in the Underdark, an ancient tradition reserved only for those of the Royal Blood. There she learned to control the elements around her. At eighteen human years (only about five in bender years) she was left on her own to escape to the surface. If she couldn’t get to the surface in eighteen tendays, then her bodyguard would come back for her. Zae, though, had a secret. She had filched a panthar figurine from her bodyguard when he wasn’t looking—exactly what the plan was—and learned the name of her new companion, Atul. She called to the creature and it came from the Astral Plane to the Material plane. They formed an easy friendship and were soon fighting their way to the caves leading out of the Underdark. When they arrived back up about a month (four tendays) later, Zae hid the figurine, hoping that she could keep Atul. Her mother confronted her on this, but surprisingly let her keep it. It was, after all, a gift for her birthday.
Zae loved surface life, and spent about three human years learning the basics of civilization. Her first contact with prejudice, however, was in a neighboring city. She had snuck off to look around, confident that she would fit in. Her dirty feet, raven-black hair, and the blue tattoo on her arm spoke for her, however, and the city guards denied her entrance. She snuck in anyway, thinking it to be a hoax, and was attacked by a group of kids just for being a bender. She ran off and nursed her wounds back at Bei Fong Tower, stricken at what they did.
Zae was soon sent as an emissary to other cities, making sure the trading was still running smoothly, and also helping in small hospitals, using her Waterbending to try and heal the ones there.
She chose to master all of her bending, and to learn to wield the weapons. She descended onto the road of Ranger, learning to use the natural world to make friends among the animals, even learning to cast small, unimportant spells such as animal empathy. She learned the way of the blade and bow by her father, and learned to further her bending skills from her mother.
When the planes first started their ripple, there was an attack on the Bei Fong Mountain Range by the same town Zae had entered as a child. With Ten-Town’s surprising militia force, the benders were driven back further into the mountains, preferring not to go into further conflict with the humans. Zae didn’t share this opinion, and captured a whole squad of soldiers with Atul, cornering them. She ordered them to return to their commander and tell him to meet her face-to-face. They obliged, and the commander came out, flanked by many bodyguards and other soldiers. The fighting was temporarily called off, allowing each side to lick their wounds. Zae put her mouth to work and convinced the commander not only to back down, but to allow passage into the city to buy supplies and trade with the merchants. She agreed to go with them and help train their soldiers so they may even defend their homeland. Soon, the benders and the people at Ten-Town’s were in an alliance, and the militia became stronger than ever.
Zae was offered the job of scouting out the large mountain-tops to make sure there was less trouble in the region. They lived close to barbarians, and in the snowy ranges there were many yeti who would eat anything. While her mother focused on finding the source for the planer disortion, Zae decided to take to job, if only to protect her people. She, Atul, and her bronze dragon Wyven kept close watch.
Finally, Zae was called back to Bei Fong Tower. Her mother thinks the source of the disturbance can be traced from Luskan, a journey five tendays away. Zae must leave Wyven at the Tower and travel on horse-back to Luskan and meet the wizards and mages there. Unbeknownst to her, however, her contact is an evil one, maybe too powerful for swords to kill.
On the way to Luskan, Zae will set up camp near Mithral Hall and rest… unknowingly in dwarven territories.
--
Basically, the story will start with Zaewyven and her companion being watched by the dwarves. While they’re asleep, the dwarves will capture them by throwing out the newer sleep darts stolen from the drow. They’ll be disarmed and taken to the King of Mithral Hall, who is also suffering slightly from lack of magic, though the biggest effect is that they can no longer make the magical weapons. Zaewyven will tell them of her plan and stay five more days to rid of the dart’s poison. Soon, the King will leave the Hall with her and place somebody else in charge.
The elves will be busy with their ill, so Bartimaeus will come through and change as one of the elves to survey the scene. He’ll be found out by one of the elves’, and forced to show his true form. Bartimaeus escapes, but continues to wreck havoc upon the elves so much that they are forced to parley with him. It’ll fail, and the elves will contact one of their allies, Queen of Bei Fong Tower, for assistance. She’ll direct them to a powerful mage in Luskan, who is also supposed to be helping her daughter. The Elven Prince sets off immediately.
The mage in Luskan is the one who secretly aspires to become a god. True, he has more information than rest, which he shares with his twin brother (the other evil guy), and believes that something inside the benders, dwarves, and elves are keeping them immune to the effects. His brother, a master in persuasion, already convinced the Queen of Bei Fong Tower to let her daughter go, which spread to the elves and dwarves. They intend to conduct studies on each of them to figure out what is wrong and how they may warp it to their own gain. Evil Brother #1 and #2 should first be seen just studying with each other, studying the insides of each race and the extraplaner Dark Matter that circles around them. (Whoever’s playing the Evil Guys, I’ll PM you what the Dark Matter is. )
The other Magic Investigators should be working on the same thing in Silverymoon under the guidance of Lady Austriel and her sister mage.
