Personally I liked this show. The crew was intriguing and the captain was great. It was also produced by Gene Roddenberry, the same person who produced Star Trek.
During the fifth season, however, they got in a new android character named Doyle, and it seemed like a lot of people wanted Rommie back, and eventually she did come back. I also heard that a lot of people complained about Doyle's pink outfit, which was later changed, LOL.

Basically it's about a captain and his sentient ship, the Andromeda, that got frozen in time while a war was going on. When they finally got rescued--er, salvaged, rather--it was several hundred years in the future, I believe, and the war was lost... both sides destroyed each other. So the Common Wealth--an alliance of planets--was destroyed.
So the Captain--Dylan Hunt--ends up teaming up with most of the people who were attempting to salvage his ship, and they become a rag-tag crew that is attempting to restore and rebuild the Common Wealth.
