Well, I recently read about the Iranian Oil Bourse's (IOB) underwater communications cables being mysteriously cut only weeks before it was due to open. Now, a lot of fingers point at the US because the IOB is going to sell its oil in currencies other than the US dollar; which would be a massive blow to the US economy. The US government says that the cables were cut by boats' anchors and/or earthquakes... Egypt's Communications Ministry says there were no boats in any of the areas where the cables where cut at the time of the cutting. Just for kicks I'll let you know that apparently severing a country's communications is standard Pentagon procedure before declaring war... Anyway, what is your opinion on this whole deal? Coincidence or conspiracy? |

Bush isn't THAT stupid he couldn't possible want to risk another war so I say coincidence.

I don't know; Iran is the second largest oil producer (second only to Saudi Arabia) and if they stopped selling in the USD then it would be a devastating blow to the US economy.

If we would drill for our own oil, we wouldnt have to buy it from other countries. We have some in Alaska and NO ONE FREAKIN LIVES THERE....ok a few people do...

rofl yeah but if we drill up there we'll be destroying on of the few remaining wilderness habitats...also there is a lot less oil up there then you think, at least that we could get at right away. The estimates of the US Geological Service is that it will take 5 years for the oil mines up there to begin producing any quantity of oil that would affect the US economy at all even then it would only be about 1% of our total needs.
What we need to do is actually use Nuclear power...
