Abbi let out a weak, slightly-hysterical laugh. There was no doubt in her mind that Niko's suspicions had cemented in his mind by now.
She wondered if she was beginning to go slaphappy, as she'd heard it called. Reality was beginning to cease to have meaning for her. She could feel her eyes focusing, taking in everything around her and processing it into meaningless mush. She was trapped in her mind, and she had no way out but one.
She had to tell him, or she would snap.
I can make myself disappear if I want to, she told him. I can hide in the smallest of places. I knew what they were thinking, knew their intentions. It woke me up. I heard them kill my family, and I felt my parents die. I don't know what will happen to me now.
There. She could be frank, too.

Deej's jaw dropped. So it was them. And Abbi had seen it all...he was speechless, but he felt overly bad for her. A part of him wasn't surprised, but shockwaves were still sent through his body. Wow...um....I don't even know what to say. Where are you now, whats going on? he asked

Other side of Corellia, that's why we have the time difference. I'm in some sort of... program. They put me with this family, but I'm breaking the rules. I can't talk to anybody I knew or else they'll let the bad guys find me. Not that I'd care, because I'm gonna find them anyway and break every bone in their body.
She was serious. She'd torture them.
And in a sudden wave, sanity crept back and she felt instantly ashamed of herself. That was NOT nice, she thought hopelessly. I can't tell him all this, he'll only worry. Argh, dammit!
She was tempted to write 'j/k' but that would have been a cruel joke, too. And he wouldn't believe it.
Gawd, I'm sorry. I can't believe I'm making you worry.

Abbi, the last thing you have to worry about is worrying *ME*. Besides, I've been worried either way, and I much prefer you be honest with me. And again, I've been worried either way. I've heard the reports, I know Niko rushed off to Corellia, haven't heard from Reza, and not to mention RJ went rogue and is supposedly coming all the way here to Naboo to get me so we can find you! Its become insanity in no time. Deej explained to her

Abbi re-read the paragraph three times.
Reza still isn't on? The trivial matter of RJ coming to rescue the reclusive Deej (however the hell he managed to get his address before her) was far off in her mind. She began to panic inside. No, she ain't dead. She can't be dead. Wait--what do you mean Houston's coming to get you? Why would he want to rescue ME? As far as he knows I'm still at my family's.

"Well, I've always been a good and early riser." Niko groaned sarcastically, reaching for his goggles "God must have told you that, too." He changed his clothes in the bathroom and came back out a few minutes later. He cracked his knuckles and neck, grabbed a few gadgets, his computer and his watch and typed out a message to Abbi.
Just in case you're there. Me and the sister are coming to get you out. Might as well grab what you need and start tying your sheets together if you're on a second floor. But don't move until I say so.

I doubt she's dead...maybe she just knows you're not on and so thats why she doesn't pop on, I don't know. As for RJ...he heard the reports and asked me about them. He totally jumped the gun and within five seconds he was gone. And that was yesterday, I haven't seen him since, so I don't know where he is.

"Yes, I expected you to be such!" Sister Ethea said "Now, again, we can't wait for much longer. The Lord wants his work done!"

"Well, as they say at the conventions I have surprisingly never been nerdy enough to attend..." Niko opened the door and put one foot out "Excelsior!" He made his way down to the lobby of the hotel and slipped a single credit chip into the machine to get another bag of mini blob candy. If he ever needed a sugar boost, it was now.
Once outside in the early morning air, Niko felt a fresh shot of adrenaline at the dangerous task he was about to undertake. "Er, so. Sister. She said that her lockup was two hours away from here, and all I've been doing since I got here was walking. How do we plan on getting there?"

"Boy, do you think I rode a camel here?!" Sister Ethea sarcastically asked "I have a speeder nearby...the Lord provides for his servants! And Miss Jinkins ain't gone be having none of that mess neither!"
Sister Ethea led Niko to a speeder...not a fancy one, but not a rundown one, either.

"Nice, guess you weren't lying about being provided for." Niko said, jumping into the passenger side and looking at one of the apps in his watch. "Okay, according to the signal trace from when I last talked with her, the lockup is right... Here. I'll just serve as your GPS and lead you right there."
Niko pressed a few buttons and plugged his watch into his computer, transferring the signal to a layout of Coronet City and the surrounding area. "We should park a block or so away, though." he continued "Goggle-eyed guy like me tagging along with a nun like you looks a little... Conspicuous, no offense." And I have got to design an application devoted to tracking this Miss Jinkins lady down. It'd be the highlight of my career.

"Well I am not dumb, boy, I know that!" Sister Ethea said as she began to drive the speeder, both of them taking off for wherever Abbi was at the moment "This shouldn't take too long, we'll be finding that poor girl soon and get her out of that hole full of evil vultures!!"

OOC: By the way, for those who don't know, blob candy is exactly what it sounds like. It's the Star Wars equivalent of gummy candy, just in the shape of round blobs. -- "Right-o!" Niko said, kicking back in his seat and pulling out the bag of blob candy. While keeping one eye on the directions and feeding the right ones to Sister Ethea, Niko stuffed the contents of the bag in his mouth little by little. Mmm, melon flavor.
After they had been traveling for just about the appropriate two hours, Niko checked his map for a good place to stop. "Okay, sister. Just up ahead. You know what to do. And to any Imperial political assassins, beware." He folded his computer and unplugged his watch, carrying both with him.

Abbi had to sign off quick with a hasty goodbye when her new 'family' came to wake her up. That was two hours ago, and now it was seis el punto. They talked about little of consequence and didn't manage to bond at all in that time. Apparently they liked to get up earlier than normal families 'just to be different,' they said.
Yeah, okay.
She began to get nervous around 0630, though, even after she'd taken her shower and somewhat relaxed. She hadn't even bothered to unpack, even though her new family was dropping heavy hints of wanting her to. She'd just keep putting it off, until...
A smell reached her nose before anybody else's. Burning oil, or lighter fluid. Possessed by the same feeling that had woken her up before, she tucked a kitchen knife deeper into her pocket and went to investigate downstairs.
Boom!
She ducked on the stairs, folding herself to the wall as a rush of hot air hit her from below. A piece of debries hit her shin, knocking it out from under her and making it feel curiously cool. The man, Punto, passed her, running down to the source of the explosion. The woman upstairs screamed.
Suddenly, her screaming stopped. Abbi's breath caught, and, heart pounding, she started upstairs two at a time. Smoke threatened to choke her from downstairs, and she could hear the flames climbing up the stairs.
The woman was dead, and the same fat man who'd sat next to her on the transport stood over her with a blaster in his hand.
She ran for him, forgetting about the knife in her pocket. Using her momentum, she jumped for his head. He caught her by the armpits and pulled her behind him to send her crashing into the dinner table behind them. She didn't feel the jolt.
She was rolling to her feet, nimble and quick enough to avoid the blaster shots as they rang out. She got close enough to kick him as hard as she could in the stomach, twisting his wrist away so she could grab the blaster.
Boom!
The next explosion rocked the apartment, and they both dropped the blaster. She came foreword, putting her arm around his neck and pulling them closer together until her head met his nose in a satisfying CRACK of breaking bone.
Then his arms were around her, squeezing her until she felt she was about to pop. One arm loosened to make its way to her throat, and she dipped her chin to bite it. Her teeth sunk deep, deep into the flesh until she felt the bone underneath.
She was going against all her Aikido training now.
The man howled in pain, and she bit harder. His thumb gave way completely, and she spit it out. Nauseated, she didn't see the punch that sunk in her cheek. She went limp, blinking away dark spots in her vision.
She groaned, head pounding, trying to remember where she was. She kept struggling, kicking halfheartedly, until she realized who she was. With her free hand, she reached in her pocket and drew the knife.
She flipped it upwards and cut his wrists.
He howled in pain, letting her go. She scrambled backwards to find some higher ground, conscious of the datapad's weight in her jacket. She looked up at him, wide-eyed and fearful, when he aimed the blaster at her.
What is it like to know when you're going to die?
In that instant, she knew she wasn't going to die. She laughed hysterically, twisting out of the way. She scrambled to a standing position, the grin still on her face. Not today.
His fist lashed out, and the world was stuffed out like a candle.
--
Her eyes flew open. The ground... it was moving. It only took a few quick seconds for her to remember what had happened and what had woken her up. A third Boom.
The man was nowhere in sight. She caught a glimpse of his intentions as he left. He believed her dead in the flames.
She let out an involuntary cry of pain, trilling off into a long, quiet wail when she realized he'd handcuffed her to the sink drain.
The flames had devoured half of the kitchen already, and were licking the body of the woman that took her in. They would be coming for her next.
Burning to death was one of her biggest fears. She began to struggle.

Sister Ethea and Niko had followed Abbi all the way to her new apartment with her new "family"...they had hid in an alley with their speeder, watching and waiting for the right time. However, when the fire broke out, Sister Ethea had instantly become alerted. She sat beside Niko and watched the fat man leave and vanish far out of sight. "Hear me and hear me now, he is the sinner doing the devil's work! That girl may be in danger, and for God, we must get in there now!" she yelled, jumping out of the speeder, Bible in hand

"Wait, shouldn't you go after-?" Niko stuttered, tossing his computer and jacket into the seat "AGH! Hell! I'm coming Abbi." Not really knowing what he was doing, Niko began running towards the house. He ran around the front entryway to the front door and tried to bust it in with his shoulder. Once. Twice. Three, four. "DAMN IT!" he screamed, messing with the doorknob "ABBI!! ABBI!! Are you in there?!"
Going for broke, he backed up and charged into the door, jumping into the air and drop-kicking it with both legs. This loosened the door enough that it opened up, but it also put Niko on his back.
